about the artist:
Fred Weisskopf can be best described as a “practical” or “everyday person’s” artisan. He specializes in making practical and affordable items that are unique and guaranteed to be conversation pieces. Fred is a life-long woodworker and has made countless wooden items for family
and friends. He especially likes to work with local hardwoods and to
accent his pieces with exotic woods.
Among Fred’s many items shown at Gallery 54 are his beautiful shaker
boxes, fine cutting boards, tool handles, vases, and his popular magnet
If you are at Gallery 54 or at an OnCenter event and a display shelf
catches your eye, there’s a good chance Fred made it. Fred majored in manufacturing in college. He taught woodworking and owned a
successful hardware business for 27 years before retiring so he could spend more time on his woodworking passion and of course with
his loving wife Linda, who is a retired Kindergarten teacher.
